In a dramatic robbery reminiscent of a movie scene, three masked men stormed into a jewellery shop in Bengaluru just before closing hours and escaped with gold ornaments. The incident was caught entirely on CCTV cameras installed within the store.
The robbery occurred at Ram Jewellers, located in Bhairaveshwara Complex on Magadi Road, as the owner Kannaiya Lal was preparing to shut the store for the day. Suddenly, the armed trio barged in with weapons drawn and began swiftly scooping up gold ornaments from the display counters.
The shopowner and his staff tried to intervene, but were overpowered and shoved aside. Despite raising an alarm, the robbers completed the heist within minutes. Nearby shopkeepers, alerted by the noise, rushed in — but by then, the culprits had already fled.
Police estimate the amount of gold stolen to be around 184 grams. A case has been registered at the Madanayakanahalli police station, and investigators are actively reviewing CCTV footage to identify the culprits.
Initial observations suggest that the firearms used during the robbery might have been fake, although confirmation is awaited. Authorities have begun questioning a few suspects as the probe progresses.
The incident has raised concerns about security in commercial areas, especially with rising cases of daylight theft. Officials have assured increased patrolling and surveillance in the region to prevent similar occurrences.
