Bengaluru: Law enforcement authorities have detained a food delivery rider in connection with the brutal killing of a 30-year-old security personnel stationed at a supermarket in Byatarayanapura, west Bengaluru, last week.

The accused, identified as Karthik R, a resident of Malleswaram, was taken into custody for allegedly murdering Ganesh Bahadur. The fatal incident unfolded around 6:30 pm on February 28.

According to investigators, Karthik initially arrived at the supermarket’s storage unit in search of Bahadur. Failing to locate him there, he proceeded to Bahadur’s living quarters within the same commercial premises. The security guard was asleep when Karthik launched a violent assault, stabbing him multiple times with a knife.

Severely wounded, Bahadur was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The Byatarayanapura police swiftly registered a case of homicide and, following an inquiry, apprehended Karthik on Sunday.

Authorities revealed that a minor dispute over the opening of a supermarket gate had escalated into a deadly act of vengeance. The altercation, which occurred when Karthik had gone to collect an order, left him infuriated.

Driven by rage, Karthik returned the next day, February 28, with the intention of exacting revenge, ultimately ending Bahadur’s life in cold blood.

Police continue their investigation to uncover further details.
