A suspicious death of a married woman has been reported under the Yelahanka New Town Police Station limits, with serious allegations of dowry harassment and murder emerging from the victim’s family.
Family alleges foul play
The deceased has been identified as Shruti, who was found hanging at her residence. Her husband, Pawan Kalyan, has come under scrutiny after Shruti’s parents alleged that her death was not a suicide but a result of sustained harassment and violence.
According to the family, Shruti had married Pawan Kalyan around one and a half years ago. They claim that soon after the wedding, she was subjected to continuous pressure from her husband and his family to bring additional dowry.
History of harassment
Shruti’s parents stated that she had been facing mental and physical harassment over dowry demands. The situation reportedly led to frequent disputes within the household.
In an attempt to resolve the conflict, elders from both families had earlier intervened and held reconciliation talks. While the matter was temporarily settled, the family alleges that the harassment continued even after the intervention.
Allegations of murder
In a serious accusation, Shruti’s parents have claimed that she was strangled using a cloth by her husband and his family members. They allege that the accused later staged the scene to resemble a suicide by hanging in order to mislead investigators.
The discovery of Shruti’s body hanging has raised strong suspicions among family members, who insist that the circumstances point towards murder rather than suicide.
Police begin investigation
Following a complaint filed by the victim’s family, Yelahanka New Town Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Officials stated that the exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report.
Police sources confirmed that all angles, including dowry harassment and possible homicide, are being examined.
The incident has once again brought attention to the persistent issue of dowry-related harassment and the need for stronger safeguards for women within domestic spaces.
