Early struggles and unwavering determination
Daughter of ex-serviceman R. Raman and R. Muthulakshmi, Dr. Raman draws strength from her parents. Her father’s golden words, “It is only education that gives respect in society and will save your life till your last breath,” became her life’s guiding principle.
Facing financial hardships, she took up a job early in life but remained steadfast in her educational pursuits. She completed five post-graduation degrees through distance education, balancing work and studies.
Her professional journey began as a Computer Programmer in a reputed hospital with a humble salary of Rs 750 per month. Encouragement from her colleagues, from Mrs. Amudha (Receptionist) to Dr. Thiagarajan (Director), helped her achieve her academic aspirations.
