In a major breakthrough, Bengaluru’s Anti-Narcotics Wing arrested Rakshith Ramesh Melappanavar, a resident of Chokkananahalli originally from Davanagere, after raiding his apartment. Authorities seized contraband worth Rs 2 crore, including 3.5 grams of hydro ganja, 40 LSD strips, 130 grams of charas, and 2.3 grams of MDMA.

Based on reliable intelligence, the operation revealed an international supply chain. Investigators suspect Melappanavar’s accomplice, who remains at large, orchestrated imports of hydro ganja from Thailand and Malaysia disguised as cookie shipments. Drugs were also sourced from Goa, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana. The accomplice allegedly managed orders and payments using global contacts, while Melappanavar distributed the narcotics locally and recruited new clients under the guise of a tattoo service.

Police believe the accused was stockpiling drugs to meet increased demand during New Year festivities. “He planned to travel to Goa for celebrations when we intercepted him,” an officer shared. The CCB is actively pursuing his partner and expects further arrests.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda lauded the CCB’s vigilance, emphasizing the department’s dedication to disrupting drug operations. “We aim to dismantle networks and deter new entrants into this illegal trade,” he stated.

This operation is part of a broader campaign against narcotics in the lead-up to the festive season, reflecting heightened efforts to curb drug circulation and ensure public safety.
