Bengaluru: The Varthur police have arrested a 34-year-old man, identified as Ravinder Singh, for allegedly murdering his wife, Poonam Singh (30), at their residence in Bommasandra, East Bengaluru.

The incident came to light on August 28 when Poonam’s relative, Bijendra Singh (40), visited the house and found her lying lifeless on a divan. He immediately informed the police, who reached the spot and began investigation.

Murder after heated argument

According to officials, Ravinder Singh, a carpenter from Gorakhpur, was a habitual drinker and frequently fought with his wife. On the morning of the incident, around 10 am, a heated argument broke out between the couple. In a fit of rage, Ravinder allegedly strangled Poonam with a rope, resulting in her death.

The couple, married in 2020, had moved to Bengaluru for work and lived in a rented house with their two children, aged four and two.

Police investigation and legal action

During interrogation, Ravinder confessed to the crime, police said. He has been booked under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Authorities are conducting further investigations to verify details and record witness statements.

The tragic incident has left two young children without parental care. Police said arrangements are being made for their immediate welfare, while legal proceedings against Ravinder Singh continue.
