Two friends, AJ Harshith (29) and Vinu Lochan, both residents of RR Nagar, were severely injured in a violent altercation outside Big Barn Bar and Brewpub in Banashankari 6th Stage. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, shortly after the duo and their friends celebrated New Year’s Eve at the pub.

The trouble began when Harshith stepped out and asked for a lighter from a man smoking near a parked car. The man, later identified as one of the accused, reacted aggressively, hurling abuses. When Harshith questioned his behavior, he was attacked. Lochan intervened to protect his friend but was assaulted by three others from the same group.

Police identified the attackers as Abhishek, Puneeth, Jayaprakash, and Arun. While Arun fled the scene, the others were apprehended by officers deployed nearby for New Year’s Eve security. All parties involved, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, were subjected to medical examinations.

Harshith and Lochan, who suffered fractures and other injuries, were rushed to a private hospital, where their conditions are now stable. A case under BNS 118(1) for grievous hurt with dangerous weapons and related offenses has been filed against the accused, who have since been released on bail.

Authorities are investigating the incident, which they described as an avoidable clash fueled by intoxication and minor provocation.
