Bengaluru: A 20-year-old man was found murdered inside a public park in Bengaluru’s Kumaraswamy Layout on Sunday morning, prompting police to launch an investigation and a search for those responsible.

The deceased has been identified as Rakesh alias Raaki, a resident of Rajyothsava Nagar, who earned his livelihood by selling egg rice from a pushcart.

Body found with multiple injuries

According to police, Rakesh’s body was discovered inside the park with severe injuries to his face and other parts of his body, indicating he had been brutally assaulted.

Preliminary investigations suggest the murder may have taken place between midnight and 1 am inside the park.

Police suspect the incident may have followed a drinking session, although the exact sequence of events and motive behind the crime are yet to be established.

Police launch search for suspects

Based on initial findings, police have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Investigators are examining evidence from the scene, speaking to local residents and reviewing available CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify those involved.

Officials said efforts are underway to trace the suspects, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.

The incident has once again raised concerns over violent crimes in the city and the safety of public spaces during late-night hours.
