Bengaluru: City police have arrested a 37-year-old man, identified as Madan, for allegedly sexually harassing two women in separate incidents last week in Pulakeshinagar. The accused, a BSc Computer Science graduate from Banaswadi, was previously employed with a software firm but had recently resigned, police said.

The first incident took place on June 6, when Madan allegedly approached a woman near a grocery store on Milton Street and forcibly kissed her before fleeing the spot. Shortly after, he reportedly entered a nearby park where he followed another woman and hugged her inappropriately from behind.

Both victims filed complaints, prompting police to register a case under Sections 74 (assault with intent to outrage modesty) and 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). CCTV footage from the area helped authorities track down and arrest Madan.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), D Devaraja, stated that Madan may have a history of similar offences in the same locality. Investigators also revealed that the accused has been uncooperative during questioning and is suspected of being addicted to pornography.

The arrest has reignited public concern over women’s safety in Bengaluru’s public spaces, with growing calls for increased surveillance and stricter action against repeat offenders.

Police are continuing the probe to determine if Madan was involved in other similar incidents.
