In a welcome move for passengers facing heavy summer rush, Indian Railways has introduced additional train services from Bengaluru, strengthening connectivity with Bihar, West Bengal and parts of Karnataka.

The seasonal expansion is expected to benefit students, migrant workers, families and holiday travellers who often struggle to secure confirmed tickets during peak vacation months. Bengaluru, one of India’s busiest travel hubs, witnesses a sharp rise in passenger demand every summer, especially on long-distance routes.

Relief for summer travellers

Railway authorities have extended and introduced special services connecting Bengaluru to key destinations including Bihar and West Bengal. These trains are aimed at reducing waiting lists and easing congestion on regular services.

Recent announcements include special weekly trains between Bengaluru and Kanpur, along with expanded services on eastern routes where demand remains consistently high.

Big help for migrant workers and families

Thousands of people from eastern and northern states live and work in Bengaluru and surrounding Karnataka districts. During summer holidays, many travel home with families, leading to packed trains and limited seat availability.

The extra services are expected to offer affordable travel options while reducing pressure on regular trains. Routes to West Bengal have also seen recent additions, including new long-distance services from Bengaluru.

Better connectivity for Karnataka

Apart from helping outbound travellers, the move also improves inbound travel to Bengaluru and Karnataka, supporting business, education and tourism movement during the busy season.
