Bengaluru: A massive fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday at a plastic floor mat manufacturing unit in Nagarthapet, Central Bengaluru, leaving at least one person dead.

The deceased has been identified as Madan Singh. According to preliminary reports, his wife and two children are feared to be trapped inside the building as rescue operations are still underway.

Officials from the Fire and Emergency Services Department confirmed that the control room received an emergency call around 3.15 am. In response, five fire tenders and water bowsers were immediately deployed to the site, and efforts to extinguish the blaze are continuing.

Personnel from the Halasuru Gate police station have also reached the spot and are coordinating with firefighters. Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the fire, and further details are awaited as search and rescue operations progress.

This tragedy comes barely a day after a separate incident in Wilson Garden, where a suspected cylinder blast left one person dead and nine others injured, highlighting back-to-back fire-related mishaps in the city.

Residents in the area have been urged to stay clear of the accident site while fire and police officials work to bring the situation under control.
