The Bengaluru police have arrested five individuals in connection with the brutal murder of a 42-year-old rowdy at a bar in Soladevanahalli, north Bengaluru, last week. The arrested suspects are Muniraju alias Muni (24), Rajesh K alias Bablu (21), Yatish Gowda alias Yathi (26), Vinay Kumar alias Gudde (25), and Uday J (19), all residents of Yelahanka New Town.
Jayaram K, a history-sheeter with a criminal record, was hacked to death with billhook machetes on March 4. His head was nearly severed. Investigating officers found a potential motive linked to past rivalries, particularly related to Jayaram’s previous criminal activities. Police discovered that Jayaram had been imprisoned for a year for the murder of Kiran, a man who had interfered in his family matters. Jayaram was released on bail in 2017 and subsequently opened a poultry shop.
The police further linked Kiran’s brother, who is currently in Parappana Agrahara Jail, to the murder after he had previously threatened Jayaram. The murder plot was later traced to Kiran’s close associates, who orchestrated the attack.
The suspects have been remanded to police custody for 10 days as the investigation continues.
