A group of four individuals went on a destructive spree on Saturday night, vandalising 18 vehicles—including SUVs, cars, and autorickshaws—parked along the roadside in Hongasandra. The incident came to light early Sunday morning, causing widespread alarm among residents.
The Bommanahalli police have detained all four accused. According to Sridhar, a local resident, he discovered the damage to his car around 5:30 AM and noticed multiple other vehicles similarly wrecked near his home. The act occurred close to the residence of Bommanahalli MLA M Satish Reddy.
Police reviewed CCTV footage from the area and found two individuals on a two-wheeler damaging vehicles, while two others followed on foot using tools like iron rods, wooden planks, and roadside stones to carry out the destruction.
Authorities confirmed the accused were under the influence of alcohol during the incident. “An FIR has been registered, and all four are being questioned,” a senior police official stated.
Adding another twist, one of the affected vehicle owners said political aides had approached them offering a partial settlement—50% of the repair costs upfront, with a promise to pay the rest soon. “We’ve asked for time to consider the offer,” the resident noted.
The community is now demanding stronger security measures, especially given the incident occurred near a prominent leader’s home, and are seeking accountability and full compensation for the damages.
