Bengaluru Police have arrested four people for allegedly selling prohibited narcotic substances in different parts of the city and seized drugs and a vehicle with an estimated market value of ₹14.94 lakh.
The arrests followed intelligence inputs indicating that narcotic substances were being supplied in areas under the Marathahalli, Bommanahalli, Pulakeshinagar and Bharathinagar police station limits.
Raids lead to arrests across the city
Based on information received through informants, police registered cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and conducted raids at multiple locations.
During the operations, four accused were apprehended on different dates. Police said the group included three individuals from other states and one local resident.
Drugs and vehicle seized
According to investigators, the accused were allegedly involved in the sale of ganja, MDMA, methamphetamine and codeine cough syrup.
Police seized:
- 10.2 kg ganja
- 20 grams MDMA
- 10.03 grams methamphetamine
- 2.5 kg codeine cough syrup
- One car allegedly used for transporting the substances
The seized property is valued at approximately ₹7.47 lakh, while its estimated market value is around ₹14.94 lakh.
Students among alleged targets
During interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted to purchasing narcotic substances from unidentified suppliers within and outside Karnataka at lower prices before selling them at higher rates.
Police said the substances were allegedly supplied to members of the public, including college students, in an attempt to earn quick profits.
Hunt on for suppliers
Authorities have launched efforts to identify and trace the interstate and local suppliers who allegedly provided the drugs to the accused.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and further arrests cannot be ruled out. All four accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
