In a dramatic turn in the Old Madras Road road rage case, Vikas Kumar, a BPO professional who was initially arrested based on a complaint filed by Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose’s wife, has now accused the IAF officer of assault and false allegations.

Released on bail, Vikas issued a video statement on Tuesday denying the officer’s claims. He alleged that Bose used the “language issue” as a cover-up and accused him of being physically aggressive. “I speak five languages. The accusation is fabricated, and I’m now at risk of losing my job,” said Vikas.

According to Vikas, the altercation began when an MUV brushed against his bike. He claims that when he stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver, Bose exited the vehicle, pushed his bike, and physically assaulted him. “He bit me, smashed my phone, snatched my bike key, and tried to choke me,” Vikas alleged.

Following this counter-complaint, Bengaluru police registered a fresh FIR against Bose, including charges of attempt to murder and provocation.

The incident has inflamed linguistic sensitivities. Pro-Kannada activists gathered at the Baiyyappanahalli police station demanding strict action. Indian Air Force officials visited for internal investigation, while the Karnataka CM, Siddaramaiah, strongly condemned Bose’s alleged remarks against Kannada and its speakers.

Siddaramaiah emphasized that Karnataka respects all communities and warned against divisive narratives. “We won’t tolerate insults to our language,” he said, calling for accountability.
