A controversial video recorded at Madavara metro station in Bengaluru has ignited a fresh wave of debate around public expressions of affection in India. Captured by a passerby and circulated on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by the handle Karnataka Portfolio, the footage shows a young couple engaging in an inappropriate act at the platform while surrounded by commuters.
The visuals, which have now crossed 3.3 lakh views, display the pair ignoring the presence of fellow passengers—including visibly uneasy senior citizens—as they continue their behaviour in a public space. The clip was posted with the caption: “Is Bengaluru adopting Delhi Metro behaviour?”—a reference to past controversies involving similar conduct.
Many viewers expressed disappointment and anger, calling for swift intervention from metro officials. One user remarked, “Are we setting the right precedent for today’s youth?” Another said sarcastically, “Metro platforms are now romantic spots, apparently.”
Several also questioned the lack of surveillance or security personnel. “Where are the staff? Why is no one stopping them?” one netizen asked. Others lamented the changing face of the city: “This isn’t the Bengaluru we knew.”
At the same time, some users turned the spotlight on the act of recording and posting such incidents. “Filming people without their permission is equally problematic,” one person wrote. Another pointed out, “If you’re concerned about morality, at least blur their faces.”
The episode has fueled ongoing conversations about public manners, digital boundaries, and cultural change.
