Anekal : Bannerghatta Biological Park is celebrating the birth of a precious baby elephant, as Rita, one of the park’s beloved residents, gave birth to a healthy male calf on Sunday. The arrival of this adorable new addition has brought immense joy and excitement to the park.
With this new arrival, the elephant population at the park has now reached 27. Suryasen, Executive Director of Bannerghatta Biological Park, stated that among these elephants, there are currently 12 males and 15 females in their care.
This is the first offspring for nine-year-old elephant Ritali. Under the guidance and support of experienced elephants Lilly and Gauri, special care has been taken to ensure both mother and baby are well-cared for during this crucial time. The rest of the elephant herd eagerly awaits their turn to shower love and attention on the adorable newborn.
The dedicated staff at Bannerghatta Biological Park are providing utmost care to Rita and her little one. Special dietary provisions including uddu (black gram), avalakki (flattened rice), chickpeas, saffron, and coconut have been prepared for mother elephant Ritali’s nourishment.
The healthy baby boy weighs approximately 100 kg and is being looked after by his doting grandmother, KV Ravi. A team consisting of doctors Kiran, RFO Dinesh, DRFO Abhishek, and Suresh is closely monitoring both mother and calf to ensure their well-being during this critical phase.
The entire staff at Bannerghatta Biological Park extends their warmest wishes for a bright future ahead for little Marianne as he grows up in his loving new home amidst his extended family within the park’s beautiful surroundings.
