BENGALURU: Popular Kannada TV presenter and the voice behind the Kannada announcements on Bengaluru Metro (Namma Metro), Aparna Vastarey, passed away on Thursday, July 11, after a battle with cancer.

Aparna was renowned for her roles in both movies and TV serials, including notable appearances in TV serials like Mudalamane and Mukta. She hosted several programs on DD Chandana and later served as a radio jockey for Vividha Bharati. Aparna was also well-regarded as a voiceover artist, with her work on Namma Metro’s announcements being one of her memorable contributions.

In addition to her television career, Aparna participated in the first season of Bigg Boss Kannada in 2013 and showcased her comedic talent on the Maja Talkies comedy show in 2015, where she portrayed the character ‘Varalakshmi’.

Aparna gained recognition through films like ‘Masanada Phuva’ and appeared in various other films, including ‘Inspector Vikram’.

Chief Minister Siddharamiah expressed his condolences, stating on social media, “Saddened to hear about the demise of actress and beloved presenter Aparna. It’s unfortunate that such a versatile talent, who elegantly represented Kannada language on major channels and government platforms across the country, has left us so soon. May Aparna’s soul rest in peace.
