Monday’s brief rainfall signals a wet week ahead for South and Central Karnataka, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall across the region, including Bengaluru.

The rains are driven by a trough formation stretching from West Rajasthan to the Gulf of Mannar, passing through interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. A secondary trough from southeast Madhya Pradesh to Telangana has merged with it, while an upper air cyclonic circulation over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam is also influencing the system.

Rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds are expected across multiple districts including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Mysuru, Tumakuru, Davanagere, Raichur, Kalaburagi, and both Bengaluru Urban and Rural, among others.

By 7pm, the BBMP control room received no major rain-related complaints, except for a treefall in Sampangiram Nagar. No waterlogging or untoward incidents were reported.
