Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has implemented a 15% fare hike across state-owned transport corporations, including BMTC and KSRTC, effective Saturday midnight. The move ends a week of speculation following the cabinet’s approval.

BMTC fares increased by ₹3 to ₹5, including GST, while KSRTC’s hikes range from ₹7 to ₹115. Short-distance trips saw minor increases of ₹20 to ₹30, but long-distance routes, such as Bengaluru-Bidar, experienced higher jumps. Notably, some routes like Bidar and Vijayapura recorded a 14% hike instead of the approved 15%.

The revised fares cover all bus classes, including express, Rajahamsa, and luxury fleets like Ambari and Airavat. KSRTC has published fare sheets for regular and Rajahamsa buses but will release rates for the luxury segment separately.

Children’s fares will remain discounted—50% of adult fares in normal buses and 75% in luxury vehicles.
