Bengaluru,: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday announced the rollout of a fully automated online approval process for building plans covering properties up to 4,000 sq ft (50×80 feet) within Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits.
The scheme, titled ‘Nambike Nakshe’ (Faith Map), was earlier piloted in RR Nagar and Dasarahalli zones and has now been extended to all areas under BBMP’s jurisdiction.
About the scheme
Under the system, property owners can get a provisional building plan approval by uploading documents such as plot ownership papers and revenue records online, after validation by an authorised architect or engineer. The BBMP will later conduct site inspections to verify compliance.
“This ensures people don’t have to run from pillar to post for sanction plans,” Shivakumar said at a press conference in Vidhana Soudha, stressing that the process would eliminate middlemen and office visits.
The scheme is expected to speed up housing approvals and improve transparency in Bengaluru’s urban development.
Pothole repairs on deadline
Alongside the announcement, Shivakumar also directed BBMP to fill all potholes in Bengaluru within 15 days.
“As many as 2,795 potholes have been identified in the city. Repair works on main roads will also be taken up at a cost of ₹660 crore,” he said.
Roads along stormwater drains
The Deputy CM reiterated that no construction will be allowed within 50 meters of raja kaluves (stormwater drains) as per NGT regulations. Instead, the state plans to build 30-ft service roads along 300 km of such stretches.
Nearly 100 km of roads will be taken up in the first phase, with ₹200 crore allocated. These roads, planned in areas such as Hebbal, Nagavara, Bellandur, and Bengaluru South, will be open to private vehicles but not buses. Landowners will be compensated with Transferable Development Rights (TDRs), which they can trade in lieu of land.
