Bengaluru: Security has been heightened across Karnataka as pro-Kannada organizations have declared a statewide 12-hour bandh today. Despite the bandh, the government has not declared an official holiday for schools and colleges. However, some private institutions have opted to remain closed.

Impact on Schools and SSLC Exams

The Karnataka SSLC exam 2025 remains unaffected, as per the KSEAB schedule, with no exams set for March 22. While schools remain open, students are advised to check with their institutions due to transport disruptions.

Why is Karnataka Bandh Happening?

The bandh, led by Kannada Okkuta and activist Vatal Nagaraj, protests the recent assault on a KSRTC bus conductor in Belagavi for not speaking Marathi. The incident, which occurred last month, escalated tensions between Karnataka and Maharashtra, leading to the temporary suspension of inter-state bus services.

Government’s Stand

Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has stated that the government does not support the bandh, emphasizing its potential impact on students and public services. He also highlighted plans to launch a water conservation drive on World Water Day (March 22).
