Bengaluru: Karnataka has recorded 4,212 laboratory-confirmed influenza cases across 32 districts this year, according to surveillance data reported through the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP).
The figures, available up to August 22, 2026, show that Bengaluru accounts for the largest share of cases in the state.
Bengaluru reports highest number of cases
The Greater Bengaluru Authority area recorded 2,070 cases, the highest in Karnataka.
Bengaluru Urban reported another 1,011 cases, taking the combined figure for the two Bengaluru areas to 3,081 cases.
Udupi reported the third-highest number with 300 cases, followed by Mysuru with 187.
Shivamogga recorded 91 cases, while Dakshina Kannada reported 87. Ballari had 53 cases, followed by Belagavi with 47 and Uttara Kannada with 42.
Influenza cases across districts
Mandya recorded 32 cases, while Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru South and Haveri reported 26 each.
Davanagere recorded 24 cases, Chitradurga and Chamarajanagar 20 each, Tumakuru 18 and Chikkamagaluru 17.
Kolar reported 16 cases, Dharwad 14, Bagalkote 12 and Koppal 11. Gadag and Kodagu recorded 10 cases each.
Hassan and Vijayanagara reported nine cases each, while Vijayapura and Chikkaballapura recorded six each.
Kalaburagi reported five cases and Raichur four. Bidar and Yadgir reported no laboratory-confirmed cases in the available data.
2026 figure nearing previous year’s total
Karnataka recorded 4,583 laboratory-confirmed influenza cases in 2025 and 3,903 cases in 2024.
With 4,212 cases already reported by August 22 this year, the 2026 figure is close to the total recorded throughout 2025.
The data shows that influenza cases are unevenly distributed across the state, with the largest concentration reported in the Greater Bengaluru area and Bengaluru Urban.
