Bengaluru’s Kempegowda Airport (KIA) has launched a Kannada language option on its official website, enhancing accessibility for locals and fostering a stronger connection with Karnataka’s culture. The initiative aims to make airport services more accessible to Kannada-speaking travellers by providing them with a seamless experience in their native language.

Hari Marar, Managing Director & CEO of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), expressed his enthusiasm about the new feature: “We are pleased to introduce a Kannada version of our website that aims to create a more inclusive and accessible experience, ensuring our customers access all necessary information in their preferred language.”

The Kannada language option includes real-time flight updates, such as arrivals, departures, and delays, ensuring that travellers stay informed without any language barriers. Additionally, the website provides a comprehensive FAQ section in Kannada to address common queries, simplifying the travel process for many.

Beyond the website, the airport has also incorporated multilingual signage, flight display systems, public announcements, and staff assistance in Kannada, reinforcing the region’s cultural identity. Marar further emphasized that the airport is designed to reflect Karnataka’s heritage, making it a true representation of the state.

The initiative has been warmly received by X users, who praised the efforts of the Kannada Development Authority and language activists for making this achievement possible. “A proud moment for Karnataka,” one user remarked, celebrating the significant milestone in promoting Kannada across public spaces.
