A viral video showing a Lamborghini performing donuts and drifting on MG Road has sparked controversy in Bengaluru, with the luxury car now seized and a police case registered. The incident has drawn sharp public attention, even as the lawyer of Ricky Rai denied allegations that his client was driving the vehicle.
Lawyer calls driver “talented”, denies allegations
Narayanaswamy, legal counsel for Ricky Rai, maintained that his client was not behind the wheel during the incident. He clarified that while Rai was present in the car, the vehicle was being driven by another individual.
According to the lawyer, the car had just been collected after servicing, and the driver was in control at the time. He described the driver as “talented”, stating that the situation arose due to the car skidding on a newly paved road rather than any deliberate stunt.
He further asserted that there was no intention to create a nuisance, claiming that the road was relatively empty at the time of the incident.
Police action and ongoing investigation
The Cubbon Park Traffic Police registered a case soon after the video went viral on social media, citing dangerous driving and public safety concerns. Authorities also seized the Lamborghini as part of the investigation.
Ricky Rai appeared before the police following the issuance of a notice and submitted relevant vehicle documents. Officials are currently examining CCTV footage from the area to establish the sequence of events and identify the driver conclusively.
Public safety concerns raised
The incident has reignited concerns over reckless driving in central Bengaluru, particularly involving high-performance vehicles on busy city roads. MG Road, known for its heavy traffic and pedestrian presence, is considered a sensitive zone for such activities.
Police officials have reiterated that strict action will be taken against violations that endanger public safety, regardless of the vehicle or individuals involved.

Ricky Rai is the son of the late Muthappa Rai, a controversial figure once linked to the underworld who later transitioned into business and social work. Ricky Rai himself survived a shooting incident in Bidadi in 2023.
