In a deeply disturbing case, a 42-year-old central government employee has accused a 51-year-old man of prolonged sexual abuse, harassment, assault and extortion over several years in Bengaluru.

Arrest after detailed complaint

Acting on the survivor’s complaint, a special police team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police C.R. Geetha arrested the accused, identified as Kriplani M from Indiranagar. He was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody on April 4.

Allegations of abuse over years

The survivor, who works at the Kempegowda International Airport, told police that she initially met the accused after he allegedly promised marriage. However, she stated that the relationship soon turned abusive.

Between 2019 and 2023, she alleged that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted and harassed. The continued abuse reportedly forced her to move from Indiranagar to Yelahanka in an attempt to escape the situation.

Blackmail and intimidation

Investigators revealed that the accused allegedly recorded private videos of the survivor and used them to blackmail her, demanding up to ₹18 lakh. He also reportedly seized her personal documents, including identification and financial records, to exert control.

Police further stated that the accused claimed to have connections with senior officials and members of the judiciary, using these claims to intimidate the survivor and her family with threats of false cases.

Case transfers and investigation hurdles

The survivor initially approached Yelahanka police in December 2025, where a zero FIR was registered before being transferred to Indiranagar police. Following allegations made by the accused against officers, the investigation was later reassigned.

Officials also noted that the accused had a history of filing complaints against government officials since 2008.

Additional incidents during custody

During the course of the investigation, the accused allegedly filed a false habeas corpus petition through his mother, claiming he was missing. The court later dismissed the claim and imposed a fine.

Further, during a medical examination at Victoria Hospital, he allegedly created a disturbance, including manhandling police personnel and attacking a sub-inspector. A separate case has been registered in this regard.

Ongoing probe

Police confirmed that the accused is now in custody and that further investigation is underway. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and ensure due legal process.

The case underscores the serious nature of crimes involving coercion, abuse and intimidation, and highlights the importance of timely reporting and institutional support for survivors.
