Bengaluru: A man allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a moving train at Huskur Road Metro station on Monday evening, disrupting services on Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line for a brief period.
According to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the incident occurred at around 5.50 pm.
Emergency safety procedures activated
BMRCL said the station controller and security personnel on duty immediately initiated standard safety protocols following the incident.
“As a precautionary measure, traction power was switched off,” the corporation said in a statement.
Train operations on the Yellow Line were temporarily restricted to the Electronic City–Bommasandra section while officials carried out restoration work.
Identity yet to be established
Police have not yet established the identity of the deceased. The body has been sent for further procedures, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Yellow Line connects Rashtreeya Vidyalaya (RV) Road with Bommasandra and is one of Bengaluru Metro’s key corridors.
Services restored after disruption
BMRCL advised commuters to plan their journeys accordingly during the disruption and assured passengers that efforts were being made to restore normal operations at the earliest.
“The inconvenience caused is regretted,” the metro operator said in its statement.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious around railway and metro tracks and to report anyone who appears to be in distress to station staff or security personnel.
