Bengaluru: A man was arrested by Basaveshwara Nagar police after causing chaos at the police station following the detention of a conwoman accused of defrauding several wealthy women out of crores of rupees.

The accused, identified as Yogananda (52), created a commotion upon learning of the arrest of Savitha, his former classmate, who is accused of conning affluent women she met at kitty parties by gaining their trust and exploiting them financially.

Initially, police mistook Yogananda for a lawyer, as he was dressed in professional attire. However, upon further questioning, it was revealed that he shared a personal history with the accused.

Officials said Yogananda even attempted to take Savitha’s house keys from the police while she was still in custody — raising suspicions about his motives and involvement.

“He has been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for assault or using criminal force to obstruct a public servant from performing official duties,” a police official confirmed. He is now in judicial custody, and further investigation is underway to determine any deeper links between him and the main accused.

The case continues to unravel what appears to be a web of deception and manipulation, with more victims likely to come forward.
