Bengaluru: A man was arrested by Bengaluru Police for allegedly attempting to sell deadly weapons illegally near a bus stand in the city, officials said on Tuesday. The arrest was made following a tip-off about suspicious activity in the area.

Police said officers reached the spot after receiving credible information that a man was trying to sell weapons to members of the public. During the operation, the suspect was apprehended and several deadly weapons were recovered from his possession.

Weapons seized during operation

According to police, the seized weapons were allegedly intended for illegal sale. The accused was taken into custody, and the weapons were confiscated as part of the investigation.

Officials are now trying to determine where the weapons were procured from and whether the accused had links to a larger illegal arms network operating in or around Bengaluru.

Probe underway

A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant provisions of law, and further investigation is in progress.

Police said they are questioning the accused to identify potential buyers and any accomplices involved in the alleged illegal arms trade. Authorities are also examining whether the weapons were connected to any previous criminal activities.

The arrest is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to crack down on the illegal possession and sale of weapons and strengthen public safety.
