A man identified as Prem was fatally stabbed by a gang of four men during a failed robbery attempt in Bengaluru on Sunday night, police confirmed on Monday. The incident took place near Thigalarapalya Main Road in the Byadarahalli area.

Prem, whose exact age is yet to be confirmed, worked at a local service centre. He was traveling on a two-wheeler with two friends when the group was intercepted by four men — Vishal, Hemanth, Puneeth, and Naveen — who were reportedly intoxicated at the time.

“The accused stopped them and demanded money. An argument broke out, during which Prem was stabbed with a knife,” said a police officer. Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, Prem succumbed to his injuries. The weapon used in the attack has not yet been recovered.

Police have detained three of the accused — Vishal, Hemanth, and Puneeth — while Naveen remains at large. A murder case has been registered at the Byadarahalli police station, and arrest formalities are in progress.

Notably, both Vishal and Naveen are listed as rowdy-sheeters at the Byadarahalli and Rajagopal Nagar police stations, respectively. Authorities are continuing efforts to trace Naveen and recover the murder weapon.

The incident has shocked the local community, raising renewed concerns about nighttime safety in the area
