Bengaluru: A 67-year-old man allegedly stabbed a woman in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Courts complex in central Bengaluru on Tuesday morning.
The victim sustained two stab wounds on her left hand but is currently in stable condition.
The suspect, identified as JV Jayaram Reddy, a resident of Seshadripuram, was swiftly apprehended by bystanders at the court complex and handed over to the Halasuru Gate police.
The victim, identified as 38-year-old Vimala, had previously filed a complaint against Reddy with the Seshadripuram police in 2020, resulting in his arrest and subsequent release on bail. Both were present at the court for a hearing on Tuesday.
According to a police officer overseeing the case, “While waiting outside the courtroom for their case to be called, Reddy suddenly produced a kitchen knife and inflicted minor injuries on the woman.”
Police investigations have revealed that Reddy and Vimala were acquainted with each other but had recently been embroiled in disputes, particularly concerning financial matters related to land issues. Reddy, who works as a builder, admitted to assaulting her due to these financial disagreements.
Authorities have registered a case against Reddy under relevant sections for attempted murder.
