Bengaluru: Over 60,000 attendees flooded Palace Grounds on Thursday for two high-profile wedding receptions, causing severe congestion on Ballari Road. The events—hosted by Congress minister Byrathi Suresh and BJP MLA SR Vishwanath—brought traffic to a standstill from Hebbal Flyover to High Grounds Junction, with motorists taking an hour to cover just 1 km.

Airport passengers faced major delays, as several flights had been rescheduled post-Aero India rehearsals. With another wedding and a Beegara Oota scheduled at the same venue, authorities expect further gridlock in the coming days.

The traffic spillover jammed IISc Junction, CV Raman Road, Malleswaram, Race Course Road, and Chalukya Circle. Exits from the venue onto Jayamahal Road worsened bottlenecks at Mehkri Circle.

Serial Crash Adds to Traffic Woes

Adding to Bengaluru’s evening chaos, a seven-vehicle pileup on the Electronics City expressway halted movement near Hosa Road for 30 minutes. The accident, involving an SUV, two electric cars, and four other vehicles, occurred when one car braked suddenly. Several passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital.
