Bengaluru: A 34-year-old second-year MBBS student died after falling from the 10th floor of an apartment complex near Peenya Metro station in northern Bengaluru on Wednesday night. Police are treating the incident as a suspected suicide.
Student dies at apartment complex
The deceased has been identified as Sripad N. Police said he fell from the 10th floor of Platinum City’s ‘F’ Block at around 8.30 pm and died instantly.
Residents alerted the jurisdictional RMC Yard police, who reached the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
Sripad had been pursuing his second-year MBBS at a private medical college in Bengaluru and had been living at the apartment complex with friends for around a year. His parents reside in Rajajinagar.
Police examine circumstances
Police have begun an investigation to establish what happened before the fall. CCTV footage from the apartment complex is being examined, while residents and people known to Sripad are being questioned.
Police suspect suicide as he reportedly fell from the balcony of his flat, which was locked from inside. Investigators also reportedly found a note containing philosophical references to human mortality, a senior police officer said.
Earlier accident had affected studies
Police investigations also revealed that Sripad had previously met with a road accident while riding a sports bike gifted to him by his parents. The accident had reportedly prolonged his studies.
His father is originally from Hubballi and his mother is from Gadag. The family had moved to Bengaluru several decades ago, according to police.
The investigation is continuing and police are examining all available evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
