BENGALURU: The Snehadeepa Trust for the Disabled, established in 1999, recently hosted Prathibanveshane, a grand state-level cultural fest that brought together thousands of specially-abled children and adults across Karnataka to showcase their extraordinary music, dance and artistic talents proving that disability is no barrier to excellence. The program was inaugurated by Chief Guests Santosh Lad, Minister for Labour, Government of Karnataka, renowned playback singer Dr. Priyadarshini, along with Snehadeepa Trust Founder Paul Muddha and other dignitaries.
Santosh Lad expressed profound admiration for the trust’s 25-year legacy and admiration for its work. He announced a landmark 5% job reservation for the disabled in the private sector and pledged building support for the trust’s new premises through his foundation. “Organizations like Snehadeepa are the backbone of a compassionate society,” the Minister remarked. He added “While these incredible individuals may lack sight, they possess a vision far clearer and more profound than most. They remind us that the most important things in life aren’t seen with the eyes, but felt with the heart and achieved through the mind.”
The festival’s emotional and inspirational core was highlighted by the presence of renowned playback singer Dr. Priyadarshini. Beyond her soul-stirring vocal performance that captivated the thousands in attendance, she addressed the participants, “I have supported many NGOs, but Snehadeep is truly special for its service to the visually challenged. As they begin constructing their new premises, I urge everyone to unite in supporting this noble cause. To the participants, remember: always have a clear aim and never stop learning, as education is a lifelong journey.” She added, “It is truly heartening to see these super-talented children; their spirit is a lesson for all of us.”
The event, which saw over 550 participants showcase talents proving disability is no barrier to excellence, was a testament to the vision of its founders. Led by Dr. Paul Muddha, the first visually challenged MBA graduate from Bangalore University, the trust continues to thrive under the guidance of experts like Mr. K. G. Mohanand Mr. Shrimannanarayan B.G.
Trustee Paul Muddha was lauded for his long-standing commitment to the annual event, while Thangam Paul was credited for the meticulous planning that elevated the festival to its current majestic scale. Other dignitaries in attendance included Neela Kishore (Co-Founder, Nisarga Solutions) and Lion Sasha Kulothungan. While Actress Ragini Dwivedi was unable to attend the program due to prior commitments, she sent her best wishes for the event’s success.”
