A young female professional was allegedly harassed late Wednesday night within the Eco World IT Park in Bellandur, Bengaluru. The incident occurred around 11:40 pm when two unknown individuals riding a motorbike reportedly assaulted her and fled the scene.
The woman, who works at a private company in the tech corridor, was walking home when the assailants approached her from behind and deliberately brushed against her before speeding away. This shocking episode took place in a high-security area that houses major global tech firms.
Whitefield DCP Shivakumar confirmed the lodging of a formal complaint. He noted that the act, which took place in a public setting, caused significant mental and emotional trauma to the victim. A case has been filed under Crime No. 218/2025, invoking Sections 74 and 78 of the newly introduced Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, dealing with offenses against women’s dignity.
Authorities are examining CCTV footage to trace the suspects and reconstruct the event timeline. Police have assured swift action and extended support to the survivor.
This incident follows a disturbing trend in the city. Just weeks earlier, a man in BTM Layout was caught on surveillance following and molesting two women. He was later apprehended in Kerala. In a separate case from Mangaluru, a KSRTC bus conductor was arrested after a video surfaced showing him inappropriately touching a sleeping woman passenger. He has since been suspended and is under investigation.
