A devastating road accident near Siddaiahanapura village, close to Kollegal, claimed the lives of a woman and her daughter while leaving 11 others critically injured. The crash occurred when a KSRTC bus (KA-45-F-0032) violently struck a passenger vehicle (Ace) (KA-41-7524) traveling from Kurubanakatte to Banuru and also collided with a motorcycle (KA-10-Q-5404).

The victims have been identified as Rajamma (52), a native of Banuru residing in Bengaluru, and her daughter Shruthi. Rajamma succumbed at the scene, while Shruthi passed away at the hospital. The accident adds to the family’s grief, as they were returning from the 11th-day death rituals of Rajamma’s other daughter, Asha, who had recently died by suicide.

Among those with minor injuries are Sannamma, Mahadevu, and KSRTC bus driver Rajashekar, receiving treatment at the town’s Government Hospital. The 11 critically injured passengers, including Rathnamma, Mallanna, Harshitha, Lingaraju, Sudha, Ramesh, Madesh, and driver Prakash, have been admitted to CIMS Hospital in Chamarajanagar.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock, with calls for improved road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic rules.
