Tummoc and Namma Yatri have introduced new features that combine Metro, bus, and auto services into seamless travel planning tools, powered by open transit data. The two apps were selected as winners of the Enroute Challenge, an initiative by Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), World Resources Institute (WRI) India, and Villgro, marking Bengaluru’s first end-to-end Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions.

The launch event, held on Thursday, was inaugurated by IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge. He emphasized that Bengaluru must expand public transport usage to 70% by 2030, requiring open data, digital connectivity, and efficient first and last-mile options.

Powered by General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) data from Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the apps allow users to plan complete trips on one platform.

Tummoc now provides real-time Metro and bus schedules, trip durations, and auto booking. Namma Yatri’s update enables planning combined auto and Metro rides, tracking live Metro operations, and receiving alerts.

BMRCL Managing Director Maheshwar Rao stated that the Enroute Challenge has delivered two valuable solutions to improve Metro integration and simplify commutes. BMTC Managing Director Ramachandran R added that on June 21, BMTC served a record 46 lakh passengers, demonstrating the need for innovative, data-driven solutions to keep pace with growth.

Officials believe these tools will help commuters make faster, more informed decisions and encourage wider adoption of public transport.
