Bengaluru: A 38-year-old man from Nepal has been arrested for allegedly murdering his father by attacking him with an iron rod following an argument at an apartment complex in Bengaluru’s Varthur area.
The accused has been identified as Drona Bahadur Shahi (38), a native of Kalikot district in Nepal. The victim was his father, Chandra Shahi (58).
According to police, both father and son had previously worked as security guards in the Somapura Gate area of East Bengaluru. Chandra had recently joined as a security guard at a new apartment complex on Friday. On Sunday, Drona reportedly visited the complex in search of employment.
At around 7 pm, an argument broke out between the two men within the apartment premises. During the altercation, Drona allegedly attacked his father with an iron rod, inflicting serious injuries.
Chandra was initially rushed to KRISS Hospital in Gunjur and was later shifted to Victoria Hospital for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Monday.
Police arrest accused
The Varthur Police arrested Drona Bahadur Shahi shortly after the incident. Chandra’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal assault. The motive behind the argument is yet to be officially disclosed.
