Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced on Wednesday that staff from BBMP, BESCOM, and BWSSB will remain on duty on January 1, 2025, to manage New Year celebrations in Bengaluru. In a post on X, Shivakumar emphasized the need for uninterrupted public service and safety.

“I have personally directed BBMP, BESCOM, and BWSSB authorities to forgo holidays and continue their duties proactively. Zonal officers will also be on duty to ensure peace and harmony,” he stated. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to meeting public needs and maintaining order during the festive period.

Bengaluru’s New Year’s Eve saw lively celebrations as revellers thronged the city’s hotspots, including MG Road and Brigade Road. Though crowds at Central Business District (CBD) party zones were sparse before 9 PM, they quickly surged as the night progressed. Streets were packed with people taking selfies and enjoying the illuminated surroundings.

The proactive approach by civic authorities aims to ensure smooth celebrations and address public safety concerns. The decision underscores the administration’s focus on maintaining a secure and vibrant environment for the city’s residents.
