Bengaluru: Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has assured strict action against those accused in the alleged abuse of toddlers at a daycare centre operating inside the Capgemini campus in Brookefield, stating that no one found responsible will be spared.

The assurance comes after disturbing videos allegedly showing caregivers abusing children aged between two and three years surfaced online, triggering widespread public outrage and a police investigation.

Police examining evidence

Addressing the media, the Police Commissioner said investigators are thoroughly examining the complaint as well as the videos submitted as evidence to verify the facts surrounding the incident.

He described the allegations as “very serious” and said the case was registered immediately after the matter came to the attention of the police.

“We were not aware of this incident earlier. As soon as we came to know about it, a case was immediately registered. Whatever has happened is a very serious issue, and strict action will be taken. No one will be spared,” he said.

Wider inspection of daycare centres

The Commissioner also announced that police would inspect other daycare centres across the city to ensure they are operating in accordance with prescribed rules and child safety guidelines.

He said the police would seek details of registered daycare facilities from the concerned departments and verify whether they are authorised and complying with regulations.

A Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Joint Commissioner (East) have been assigned to supervise the investigation.

Five caregivers booked

HAL Police have registered a case against five women employed at the daycare under relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The complaint alleges that caregivers subjected toddlers to physical and emotional abuse, including locking them inside bathrooms, placing them in a washing machine, spraying water into their mouths using a toilet jet spray and threatening them into silence.

Police said the investigation is progressing, with CCTV footage and other evidence being examined. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring accountability and protecting the safety of children in daycare facilities across Bengaluru.
