A 21-year-old student of a private nursing college in Bengaluru has filed a police complaint accusing the institution’s chairman of sexual harassment, derogatory remarks and threats related to her academic future.
The complaint was lodged at Bagalagunte Police Station on April 19.
The student, a resident of Thammenahalli who was staying in the college hostel, alleged that the harassment began in August 2025.
Serious allegations made
According to the complaint, the chairman allegedly made inappropriate and personal remarks, including comparisons involving his former girlfriend.
She further alleged that he created a hostile environment that affected her mental wellbeing and academic concentration.
The student also claimed he threatened to fail her in examinations and withhold essential certificates if she did not comply with his demands.
Principal also named
The complainant alleged that the college principal failed to intervene and instead supported the chairman’s warnings.
Police registered a case under sections related to sexual harassment and criminal intimidation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Counter-complaint surfaces
During the investigation, police found that the college chairman had earlier filed a complaint on April 13 against the same student and her boyfriend.
He reportedly alleged that defamatory content about him and the institution had been circulated on social media.
Chairman denies allegations
The chairman rejected the accusations and said he was ready to cooperate with the police probe.
He claimed the allegations were false and stated that the student had been allowed to appear for examinations and was issued internal marks.
Investigation underway
Police are examining both complaints and gathering statements to determine the facts of the case.
The matter has drawn attention to the need for safe campus environments and fair grievance redressal systems for students.
