S M Ramesh, a Sanjay Nagar resident in Bengaluru, successfully lodged a complaint against OnePlus India Technology Pvt Ltd for not providing a user manual with his smartphone purchase. The city’s consumer disputes redressal commission awarded him ₹5,000 as compensation for the inconvenience caused.
Ramesh argued that the absence of a user manual violated his rights as a consumer, particularly those unfamiliar with advanced smartphone features. The commission agreed, stating that providing essential product documentation is a fundamental obligation of manufacturers.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of consumer rights and the responsibility of companies to ensure compliance with basic product guidelines. It underscores the necessity for brands to prioritize transparency and customer support in all transactions.
