Bengaluru : A section of Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Kartik Nagar, Mahadevapura, collapsed on Wednesday night after heavy rainfall, causing traffic disruptions during Thursday morning’s peak hours. The collapse, which occurred close to ongoing metro pillar construction, left a one-foot-wide hole in the road with cracks spreading in both directions. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Traffic police quickly diverted vehicles, rerouting traffic to the main road. Namma Metro engineers were immediately called to begin repair work, with updates shared on social media by Bengaluru Police’s Joint Commissioner (Traffic).
Local residents expressed frustration online, blaming poor road construction and inadequate soil compaction for the collapse. Commuters have long demanded improved infrastructure, especially along the 17-kilometre stretch of ORR, where waterlogging and potholes frequently cause delays.
