Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Industries Minister M.B. Patil met with representatives of major American semiconductor companies in New York on Tuesday, extending an invitation to industrialists to participate in the global investors’ meet, which will be organised by the state government.
“We discussed opportunities for increased collaboration with American companies in the rapidly expanding semiconductor sector in Karnataka. This visit will aid the development of semiconductor industries in the state,” the minister said in a statement.
As part of efforts to revitalize Karnataka’s semiconductor industry, Patil held consultations with four leading figures from the American semiconductor sector: ZW Kim, CEO of Eugenus Technology; Pat Lord, CEO of Lam Research; Tony Pialis, CEO of Alphawave Semi; and Samer Wazan, CEO of MIPS Technologies. The minister invited these industry leaders to attend the global investors’ meet, scheduled to take place in Bengaluru next year.
The meetings were also attended by S. Selvakumar, Principal Secretary of the Department of Commerce and Industries; Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner of the Department of Industries; and Mahesh, CEO of the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).
Patil’s visit aims to strengthen ties between Karnataka and American semiconductor companies, potentially leading to increased investment and growth in the state’s burgeoning semiconductor sector.
