In a major crackdown on habitual offenders, Bengaluru Police conducted simultaneous raids on 97 rowdy sheeters across the North Division, reinforcing efforts to maintain law and order and deter criminal activities.

The special operation was carried out under the supervision of senior police officers and targeted individuals with a history of criminal offences who are listed as rowdy sheeters in various police station jurisdictions.

Coordinated operation across North Division

Police teams visited the residences and known locations of 97 rowdy sheeters as part of a verification and monitoring exercise aimed at assessing their activities and movements.

Officials said the operation was intended to ensure that listed offenders were not engaging in unlawful activities and to strengthen surveillance over those with criminal backgrounds.

The raids formed part of the department’s ongoing strategy to curb crime and prevent potential disturbances in the city.

Strict warning issued

During the operation, police officers reportedly counselled and warned the rowdy sheeters against involvement in criminal acts, anti-social behaviour and activities that could threaten public peace.

Officials made it clear that any violation of the law would invite stringent action, including preventive measures and criminal proceedings wherever necessary.

The exercise also served as a reminder that individuals with criminal histories remain under police watch.

Focus on crime prevention

Police said such operations play an important role in preventing offences before they occur and help authorities gather information about habitual offenders.

Regular monitoring of rowdy sheeters has been a key component of Bengaluru Police’s crime-prevention strategy, particularly in areas vulnerable to gang-related activities, extortion, assault and public disturbances.

Authorities indicated that similar drives would continue across other divisions of the city to maintain public safety and strengthen community confidence in policing efforts.
