Bengaluru: The Belthangady police on Thursday conducted a search at the residence of YouTuber MD Sameer at Royal Residency Layout in Hullahalli, Bannerghatta, following the upload of a controversial video on his YouTube channel, Dhoota, which allegedly targeted the Dharmasthala temple.
Case details and allegations
A case has been registered against Sameer at Dharmasthala police station. Authorities allege that Sameer used artificial intelligence (AI) to produce the derogatory content. He is currently out on bail and has appeared twice for police interrogation at Belthangady.
Search operation
The search was conducted by a team led by Inspector Nagesh Kadri, along with forensic officials, after obtaining a court-issued search warrant. The team searched the multi-storey building thoroughly, seizing documents and gadgets including a mobile phone, computer, and CPU.
Police will send the seized items to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for data retrieval to aid further investigation. The search and mahazar concluded by evening.
