Tension erupted on Borewell Road, Nallurahalli, Whitefield, when around 70 individuals stormed a residence on Thursday, claiming the property belonged to their employer. In response, the occupants fired a round into the air from their licensed double-barrel firearm. Police arrived on the scene, advising both parties to take their dispute to court, labeling the matter as purely civil.

The incident involves Vishal Baliga, who resides in the contested property, and Sheela Gopal, a Whitefield resident from Gandhinagar. Sheela asserts that the property was legally sold to her in 1995 by Sharada Baliga, while Vishal, Sharada’s grandson, and his family claim otherwise.

According to Sheela, the land transfer was executed through her son, Jawahar Gopal, acting as a power of attorney. Though registered under her name in 2005, the property became the subject of a legal dispute when Sharada’s son, Ganesh Baliga, sought a share. While a lower court initially granted Ganesh one-third ownership, the high court overturned this decision.

Ganesh took the case to the Supreme Court, which upheld the high court’s ruling in September, reaffirming Sheela’s ownership. However, Sheela alleges that Ganesh’s family continues to occupy the property unlawfully, obstructing her efforts to carry out development work.

The matter remains unresolved as legal action looms.
