The hashtag #JusticeForKhushi is gaining widespread attention on Instagram and Twitter as people express deep anger over the death of a 15-year-old differently-abled girl, whose body was discovered partially unclothed on railway tracks near Bhadrapur village, close to Bidadi in Bengaluru. Though the incident happened several days ago, renewed outrage has sparked online, with thousands demanding quick justice and responsibility.
A sorrowful video widely shared on social platforms shows the victim’s mother weeping uncontrollably, alleging that her daughter, who was deaf and mute, suffered violent abuse by a group of six men. “My daughter could not cry out for help… her throat was cut, her arm broken,” she says through tears, begging for justice. These visuals have drawn national attention and strengthened calls for immediate action.
Khushi, a Class 8 student studying at a residential school in Bengaluru, had come home for the holidays. After attending a neighbor’s birthday celebration, she went missing. Her relatives and community members launched a search and alerted the police when she did not return. Villagers later found her body near the railway tracks and informed authorities.
The police filed a murder case and sent the body for an autopsy at Rajarajeshwari Medical College. Though the official report is pending, several injuries raise concerns of possible sexual assault, awaiting confirmation through forensic tests.
Khushi was one of four differently-abled children raised by a single mother. Her death has caused protests, with locals demanding better security, improved infrastructure, and stronger police patrols.
Superintendent of Police Srinivasa Gowda assured a thorough probe, saying, “No immediate evidence of sexual assault yet, but full investigation is ongoing. Several individuals have been detained for questioning.”
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Magadi MLA H.C. Balakrishna visited the family, expressed condolences, and announced ₹4.12 lakh compensation from district officials and ₹50,000 from the local panchayat. Shivakumar stated, “The police will follow every lead to ensure justice is served.”
As the inquiry progresses, the #JusticeForKhushi movement continues to amplify calls for answers and accountability.
