Bengaluru: Traffic movement on a section of Race Course Road between Maurya Hotel Junction and Hare Krishna Road Junction will be restricted for 60 days from August 24 to facilitate white-topping and other civic works, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) said.
The work will be carried out in four phases of around 15 days each and will include construction of a new stormwater drain, sewage line and other utility works. The first two phases are expected to be completed within 30 days.
Vehicles to face diversions
During the work, BMTC buses, goods vehicles and other vehicles will face restrictions on the affected stretches. Motorists will be diverted through designated alternative routes, including Loop Road.
In Phase 1, work will be taken up on the left side of Race Course Road between Race View Junction and Trilight Junction. Vehicles travelling from Race View Junction towards Trilight Junction will use the right side of the road.
Vehicles travelling from Trilight Junction towards Race View Junction will not be allowed to turn left. They will have to proceed via Hare Krishna Road, Gururaja Junction and Shivananda Junction before taking Kumara Krupa Road to reach Race Course Road.
Vehicles heading towards Majestic will have to use Hare Krishna Road, SC Road and Sivananda Flyover.
Phase 2 restrictions
During Phase 2, the left side of the stretch between Maurya Hotel Junction and Old JDS Junction will be closed.
Vehicles will be diverted through Anand Rao Circle and Loop Road to reconnect with Race Course Road.
The Traffic Police have advised motorists to follow diversion signs and plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays during the 60-day work period.
