After days of intense summer heat, rainfall is likely across several districts of Karnataka, offering possible relief to residents facing soaring temperatures.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a change in weather patterns is expected as light to moderate rainfall is forecast at isolated locations across the state over the next two days.
Rain forecast for coastal and Malnad districts
The weather department has predicted isolated to scattered showers in parts of Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan districts.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected in coastal and Malnad regions, including Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu and Shivamogga districts.
Some northern districts such as Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad and Koppal may also experience heavy showers.
Light rain expected in Bengaluru region
The forecast indicates light rainfall in several interior districts, including Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban and Ramanagara.
Residents of Bengaluru, who have been experiencing unusually high temperatures in recent days, may see some respite if the predicted showers occur.
Several districts to remain dry
However, the IMD said dry weather conditions are likely to continue in parts of northern and central Karnataka, including:
- Bagalkot
- Belagavi
- Bidar
- Kalaburagi
- Raichur
- Vijayapura
- Yadgir
- Ballari
- Chamarajanagar
- Chitradurga
- Davanagere
- Hassan
- Mandya
- Mysuru
- Tumakuru
- Vijayanagar
Despite the upcoming rain forecast, clear and sunny conditions are expected in many areas in the immediate term, with residents already feeling the effects of the rising summer heat.
Meteorologists say the anticipated showers could help ease the heatwave conditions, particularly in the coastal and hill districts.
